LAX could be looked at as the hub of southern California travel. If you are planning to travel southern California through LAX then you need to be aware of some new safety measures that they are running. There have been safety lights installed into the runway at San Diego's airport that will help to warn pilots of incoming planes and such. This system will not be fully implemented until the end of 2008 at LAX but I thought I would give you a heads up. This system is being trialed in San Diego. Travel and tourism in California is never slowing down so it is nice to know that the southern California airports are stepping up their safety precautions.

This move comes after LAX was featured as one of the airports that has the highest number of near runway collisions. According to travel southern California news, the new safety system will cost 5 million dollars. A cheap price to pay for increased security of all that travel through LAX. As for northern California travel, I think you are safe.
